The 918 Spyder electrical energy will be stored in a state-of-the-art liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery that can be recharged from a standard household outlet allowing for an anticipated combined fuel consumption of just 112 g/mile.

25 years ago Porsche became the world's first car manufacturer to create a special customization department at its factory. The program, called Porsche Exclusive, allows customers to get a car from the factory with just about any personal detail and refinement they want. To celebrate the program's silver anniversary the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, Germany is showcasing the Exclusive's special skills and craftsmanship with a 25 years of Porsche Exclusive show running through May 1st.

Visitors will be able to see some of company's most unique and rare special models, including the Porsche 911 Turbo S 3.6, which in 1997 was the first Porsche series production sports car to break the 186 mph barrier. Porsche To Show 111-Year-Old Hybrid In Geneva

Porsche AG will show a version of the Semper Vivus, a hybrid car developed by company founder Dr. Ferdinand Porsche in 1900, at next week’s Geneva Motor Show. Porsches says it worked for four years at its Porsche Museum in Stuttgart to recreate the car.

The appearance of Semper Vivus (meaning “always alive”) at the show is meant to reflect what Porsche calls its “lengthy dedication to ground-breaking hybrid technology.” It coincides with the recent announcement that Porsche will build a hybrid version of its Panamera sedan to join its hybrid Cayenne SUV in the lineup.

Another success story in the making is the arrival of IndiGO Auto Group in North Houston, who has owned the Porsche store since January 2010 and as of press time had just closed on the Lamborghini dealership, just a few miles south of Porsche on I-45. CEO Todd Blue is originally from Louisville, but fell in love with Houston’s attitude of ‘yes’ and its passionate car community. Todd tells us that “Houston is a very pro-business, no-boundaries community, which is exciting for the brands that we represent.”
What’s unique about IndiGO Auto group is that they are privately owned and represent some of the greatest high-end luxury automotive brands. That’s something you don’t often come across these days, and Mr. Blue believes that this allows them to offer their clients a personal experience along the way.
General Manager Kelly Wolf loves the constant change he gets to experience daily in his position. The market, the products and the technology are forever evolving, making every day different. “Buying a Porsche or Lamborghini is not a necessity – we aren’t selling transportation; these people don’t just need a fast car to get to work on time,” says Wolf. “We get to watch people fulfill their dreams and reward themselves for personal accomplishments. They are buying something they’ve dreamt about since they were 9 years old and had that car poster on their wall. Now it’s parked in their garage, and we got to be involved in that process. It’s exciting.”
Wolf particularly enjoys the fact that in this line of work, in a store such as his, that you get to watch customers start with an entry level sports car and move up through the ranks. Says Wolf, “One of the most fun parts of being in this business is that you don’t just sell one car, you typically sell five, six or seven cars as the client grows in their career and rewards themselves accordingly.”
Todd Blue, CEO of IndiGO loves to build cars with Kelly. “When Kelly and I build the ‘for sale’ cars, choosing wheels, colors and other accoutrements, we always like to build the coolest cars and load them out,” says Blue. “A lot of times dealers will build cars that are really safe, as far as colors or packages are concerned, and we always want to build cars that are exciting and emulate the passion that we have for this business. We are associated with the coolest brands in the world and we make sure we accentuate that by building the best that our brands have to offer.”
We all know Houston loves its cars, especially the sexy ones, and that will likely never change, which bodes well for the luxury automotive groups. “This market will never be boring,” Meave tells us. “Every day is different and that’s what I love about it.” We couldn’t agree more.

On Thursday, February 10, 2011, the 911 Carrera GTS was unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show. The message from the 911 Carrera GTS is clear and unmistakable: force, power and dynamics. Porsche Unveils Trio of All Electric Boxsters

Porsche already has the hottest hybrid on the planet with its Porsche 918 Spyder, but what about a little something that forgoes gasoline altogether? Now, it has that, too. The iconic German automaker has just unveiled the first of the trio of the Boxster E's. The prototype uses 240 electron-powered ponies from motors attached to front and rear axles to give it all-wheel-drive sure-footedness and the ability to go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 5.3 seconds. It has a 29-kWh battery pack, which should give a solid 100 miles per charge. Porsche will trial the triplets over the coming months. No plans for a retail version have been mentioned, though it remains an eventual possibility considering CEO Matthias Müller's statement at the Porsche museum ceremony that electric mobility is the company's “central challenge.”

Porsche AG will stage the world premiere of a parallel full hybrid model at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.

The world premiere in Geneva is being complemented by the 918 RSR hybrid racing car concept, making its first public appearance in front of a European audience. The mid-engine coupé combines the design of the 918 Spyder with the technology of the 911 GT3 R hybrid racing car.

The V8 engine in the 918 RSR is a further development of the direct injection engine from the successful RS Spyder race car and now offers an output of 563 hp (420 kW) at 10,300 rpm in the 918 RSR. The electric motors on the two front wheels each contribute 75 kW to the peak drive power of 767 hp (572 kW). This additional power, which is generated during braking, is stored in an optimized flywheel accumulator.

Porsche Considers Selling Diesel Vehicles in US

Porsche is considering selling diesel versions of its Cayenne SUV and Panamera sedan in the United States, its biggest market. The demand for fuel-efficient vehicles has grown quickly, even among luxury car buyers, and a diesel would help Porsche meet that demand. Porsche has announced a new version of the 911 called the Black Edition based on the 3.6-litre Carrera. Most of the visible interior and exterior is black including the brake calipers. Color contrast comes from the 19" forged alloy wheels taken from the 911 Turbo, along with the aluminum-look fascia strip, gearlever and air vents. The Black Edition's standard equipment includes satellite navigation, a 13-speaker Bose sound system, rear parking sensors, cruise control, automatic wipers and auto-dimming door and interior mirrors. Detroit Auto Show: Porsche Supercar to be Unveiled

Porsche announced they’ll be unveiling a new supercar this January at the Detroit Auto Show! The only detail Porsche has released is that it is closely related to the 918 Spyder concept from which it takes key components, including elements of its platform.

Porsche said: "Porsche will be giving a new model its world debut – and various other models their first showing in the USA. The show in the traditional venue of Detroit, nicknamed ‘Motor City’, is regarded as a leading international marketplace and forum for trends and opinions that is particularly relevant for the North American market. Porsche has been experiencing rapidly growing demand among its US customers over the past few months, especially for the new Panamera car line and the new generation of the Cayenne sporty off-roader."
