Porsche Considers Selling Diesel Vehicles in US

Porsche is considering selling diesel versions of its Cayenne SUV and Panamera sedan in the United States, its biggest market.  The demand for fuel-efficient vehicles has grown quickly, even among luxury car buyers, and a diesel would help Porsche meet that demand.  "We are discussing internally if we should introduce the Cayenne diesel in the US this year. To satisfy the innate need to go fast and still be able to transport the kids safely, Porsche is bringing out its latest SUV, the Cajun, sometime in 2013. This crossover-type model will be based loosely on the Audi Q5, utilizing its chassis, steering, axles and Quattro drive train. It will be powered by a 3.0L V6 engine producing 290hp and 295lb-ft of torque. Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid Qualifies for Tax Credit

That’s right! The 2011 Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid has been certified as being eligible for the Alternative Motor Vehicle Tax Credit as a Qualified Hybrid Motor Vehicle. If you buy a Cayenne S Hybrid by the end of the year or have already bought one, you qualify for a $1,800 tax credit on your 2010 taxes.

According to Porsche, “In the Cayenne model line the 'S' designation indicates a V8 under the hood. But the 'S' in the Cayenne S Hybrid name is there for a different reason – to identify the true performance character of this SUV's highly sophisticated parallel full hybrid system. With a combined power output of 380 horsepower from the supercharged V6 combustion engine and an electric motor, the Cayenne S Hybrid delivers performance nearly equal to the Cayenne S with its 400-horsepower V8 and fuel economy estimates that exceed those of the Cayenne with the V6 engine.”

The Porsche Cayenne is Hot!

Porsche Cars of North America announced that sales this past October rose by 61% from the previous year, mostly due to the strong sales of the Porsche Cayenne. Wow! Porsche sold 2,647 vehicles this past October, which is up from 1,642 from the previous October. Nearly all models in Porsche’s portfolio enjoyed increases during the month of October. Leading Porsche, 1,139 Cayennes were sold in October and Panamera sales nearly doubled from last October to 747.
