Porsche Hosts Rennsport Reunion IV at Laguna Seca in October

Porsche has announced that it will host Rennsport Reunion IV at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca from October 14-16 this year.  The Rennsport Reunion is a gathering of Porsche racers from the past to celebrate the company’s tradition and future.  The festival will feature vintage Porsche racing and a Concours d’Elegance show for race participants. There will be a series of 911-specific events to celebrate the racing history of Porsche’s most-famous model. Models at the event will include 550 Spyders, 917s, 956/962s, 911 GT3 RSRs and a host of 356s, 904s and 911s. American Porsche Racer Long Looks for Triumph in the New Year

Porsche’s sole American driver, Patrick Long, strives to win a big one, Daytona.  "My goal is to win some of the races overall I've won in class," Long said. "Daytona would be one of the biggest boxes to check off. 911 GT3 Hybrid Will Run at ALMS Finale at Road Atlanta

The 911 GT3 R Hybrid showcased the potential of its groundbreaking technology at the Nürburgring 24-hour race and led the overall classification for more than eight hours during its 22 hours and 15 minute run. As a result of its stellar performance, the orange and white racer has received invitations to race in the US and Asia. Porsche will compete in the season finale of the American Le Mans Series, a race featuring the world’s fastest sports cars, as well as the ‘Petit Le Mans’ at Road Atlanta on October 2. The Petit Le Mans races runs over a distance of 1,000 miles or a maximum of ten hours. Check out this video to see the 911 GT3 Hybrid in action!

Porsche Breaks Record at 2010 Pikes Peak Hill Climb

The annual Pikes Peak Hill Climb took place this weekend in Colorado and a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup race car smashed last year’s record in the Time Attack 2WD class. Driven by Jeff Zwart of Woody Creek, Colorado, the car completed the 12.42 mile course in 11:31:095, breaking the previous record by 38 seconds. Zwart not only broke the 2009 class record but took the car faster than all but five of the entire field – three Unlimited Class and two Open Wheels cars, all with 600-horsepower.
