The June 2010 Motor Trend actually starts their article by declaring Porsche the winner. They go on to say that the other three were competing for 2
nd, 3rd, and 4
th. The superlatives were non-stop on the
Boxster S.
"The
Boxster S is the very best roadster you can get for the money." "But in this contest of speed, style, and top-down dominance, it wasn't even close." "So engaging to pilot, this car epitomizes automotive euphoria." Not bad quotes.
Even more amazing, the
Spyder is a
Boxster S taken to an even higher level purity and performance. The
Spyder is lighter, lower, more powerful, and a touch more hard core. It's no wonder that the mid-engine cars from Porsche are universally praised and remain a moving target for the competition.
The labels: entry level, baby Porsche, and the politically incorrect "chick's car" couldn't be further from the truth with the exception that, yes, women drive them too.
